Sen Adeniyi Adegbonmire: A quintessential politician whose acomplishments do the talking

For some time now, I’ve stopped writing long commentaries about Nigeria and her politics of things. Not because I ran out of ideas, not at all. It’s not also because there are no materials to write on. Obviously, there are many. That decision was strategic and intentional. Since i will not suffer fools gladly, whoever I must write about must thoroughly earn it.
Today, when I thought of the giant strides of the Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District Distinguished Sen Adeniyi Adegbonmire (SAN) AKA omo ekun, and the brief encounter I had with him sometime in March last year made me conclude, I must share my thoughts.
As my Senator, myself being a resident of Akure North LGA, I recount the numerous communities that have benefitted from the kindheartedness of Senator Omo-ekun with electricity transformers. The list is growing on a daily basis. This same Senator has had his imprints on the lives of many youths whom he has facilitated jobs for in federal ministries, departments, and agencies. I know of a particular guy who has been on the payroll of the senator for the past 2 years, and he told me it’s been very regular and consistent.
Recently, Senator Omo-Ekun rolled out what he termed Renewed Hope Empowerment, and for once, I was envious of Ondo Central people 🤣🤣🤣🤣
One striking thing I noticed about his empowerment is the level of inclusivity. Just like that of his friend, my own boss, Hon Chief Oshati Maxima, whose empowerment cut across the ageds, the widows, students, the PWDs, and the artisans, exactly what I saw at the dome, venue of Sen. Adegbonmire’s empowerment. The joy on the faces of the beneficiaries spoke louder than their speeches could convey.
To my amazement, this Senator never made a show of these strides. I’m sure the little snippet in the news we got from that program was done without the buy-in of the Senator himself. It’s not about chochocho. A performer is a performer, anytime, any day. It’s not until cameras are everywhere. They do stuff that will benefit their constituents without prompting.
As i was saying earlier, I had a brief stint with Sen. Adegbonmire, for the first time, on the 9th of March, 2025, being the date for the yearly empowerment program of Hon. Oshati Maxima, a long-time friend of the Senator, at Idoani. The program was slated to commence at 12pm, Senator Adegbonmire arrived in Idoani home of his host, Hon. Maxima at about 10:35am, when most of the beneficiaries organizers, including myself, aren’t set for the day’s big event. For emphasy, I was at the bedroom of the Honourable when he walked in and said to me; “Ade, Senator Adegbonmire is here” I was astonished, and I asked, is it not too early for the Senator to be here; Knowing the?nature of Nigerian politicians to want to attract attention to themselves in every public event. Hon. Maxima said, “The Senator is here, u guys (the committee) have to hasten up now. Ironically, the Senator was not in a hurry. He waited patiently at the Idoani residence of the host and friend (Hon. Maxima) till the time was set and then moved to the venue of the empowerment without haste or push. He maintained his signature of calm, quiet, and unassuming mien. The man earned my love since that day o, I no go lie.
Let me shock you, should the ticket of Ondo Governorship be zoned to the Ondo central district, I will be the first person to use all platforms at my disposal to support Sen. Adeniyi Adegbonmire to be our next governor. People like him are very hard to come by. I have watched his contributions to motions and the bills he sponsored at the floor of the senate. All you’ll see is a senator that is cerebral, polite, and intellectually mobile. He’s unassuming, very simple, despite being a lawyer in the rank of a SAN, Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He maintains a posture that betrays his class and achievements.
Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, “a chip off the old block” is the chairman senate house committee on judiciary, human rights, and legal matters who recently chaired the committee that released the applauded amendments in the electoral reforms.
Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (SAN) is a collosus.
The people of Ondo Central Senatorial District are lucky to have him and the people of Ondo State in general are proud of his achievements.
